Perhaps I have been.wasting money on filter cartridges for this filter mang....

I took out the super.crudded up cartridge the other day, intending to buy more, and low and behold the tank.seems to be better! Water is usually always clear, as is the glass and ornaments, but, the fish seem happier as well. Just have the biowheel running with no cartridge in it. It's pretty gummed up, and.was.thinking about cleaning it, but maybe I will leave it for a bit. See how this pans out.

I have been using sponge instead of buying replacement cartridges and I am happy so far. You seem to have plenty of plants to help keep your water quality good. :good:

Yea, I thought about getting some bulk filter foam and.making a chunk for that filter. If it works out good, it's a good thing. Renewable, and I'm not locked into using carbon. Matter of fact, I think a.trip to the fishie store is in order. I got a few other filters I can do it to ifn it pans out.

Time to take.it to the next level of extreme....haha.

This is my most well.established tank. Has been years now that it's been going. This is my display tank in the.living room. Just trimmed back a bunch of the ships 'fro there. Added the trimmings to my 75 gallon (in which my pleco already dug up what I planted....swear sometimes that fish hates me....haha.), which are.full plants as it is a.fern I twist tied to the ship masts for that look like 3 years ago. My goal is to get my 75 the same. That big ole pleco tho......makes it difficult. They like to rearrange and.destroy.things on occasion....

Very nice tank. You definitely should put some sponge in there. I use it in all my tanks.
Definitely you should enter the February Tank of the Month contest which will feature tanks sized at 31 US gallons and larger.

Found a carbonized sponge stuff for $6, that, in theory, can be made into several months of filters for mechanical, and chemical filtration.......

Kinda a waste of time.

May have to double up or something. Is firm until it hits water, then it just goes all floppity.....

Science evolving.
