I was thinking about getting 2 dawrf puffers in a 5 gallon tank with some kind of sand cleaning fish (i really like sand over gravel :) ) and i wanted to know if 1) would they have enough space? 2) what kind of sand cleaning fish would be best so that the puffers wont bother him?

Ive heard puffers make really good pets and im hopeing after my big tank is set up to start on this one! (if its possible to do)

I know some people will say a five gallon is plenty for the two, but I really would put them in a ten gallon. Dwarfs can be grumpy guys, especially when they get older, and the more personal space you can give them, the better.

Not really sure what you mean by sand cleaning fish, but probably like cories. However, cories are too passive, and will most likely get harassed terribly by the puffers. Maybe you could try a yo-yo loach? My dwarf doesn't bother mine at all.

Dwarfs are great little fish...you'll really enjoy them.

if a 5 gallon really is fine and the puffers wont get stressed or anything then i think thats what i would get.....but if you go by the inch per gallon rule then you could only fit one......

but if you really think a 5 gallon would be good then thats what i plan to get!

I though t Dixaisy advised against putting them in the 5 by saying:

I would say only 1 in a 5 and 3 Ottos to clean the sides and an ADF if you really wanted. as far as the sand My puffers don't leave any bits of blood worm or snail meat so you should be fine with a vacuuming once every two weeks.
