siamese tiger are one tuff fish

the guy i get my rays from was over in the UK today and said he would bring me over another 10+ wide bar from holland

when we opend the box all the bags were ripped open from the dorsal fin and the plastic was wrapped all over him so we throw in into the poly box and added a bit more water from my freinds tank as he still had another 2hrs drive to go

the tiger was traveling in the box for about 14hrs and when i got home the box was letting out water and the bottom had cracked so it was to risky to lift the box out of the car buy this time the tiger was flat on its side with just enought water to cover one gil

i tipped the box on its side to cover the complete fish but it wasnt moving and looked totally stiff (like dead)
i got a net from in doors and scoped him out run up the stair throw him in the tank and he looks fine now

now that a hard fish i bet hes a millwall fan ;)

Awesome, i allways love your tigers...
Any pics???
Do you get all your rays from holland?
Also, how come the dutch are so good with rays, or do they just all keep them?

all the rays i get come from holland as i trust them and the prices are fair

when i went last time one of the pearl pups wasnt feeding as well as they would like so they said they would bring it over to us in 1 month which was today

the breeding of rays is easy for anyone who has adult rays and in holland they have plenty of adults which is why they pump out so many pups

we should be doing as well hear in the UK in another 1-3yrs as in total me and my freind now have 2 x pairs or pearl and 2 x pairs of p14s all of which are captive bred

Thats the trouble, rays are so expensive here in the UK that hardly anyone can afford to breed any apart from motoros, lets face it how many people on here can afford to stick down £1500 for a trio of decent rays?

On the continent they seem to be paying about half what we do on rarer fish so more people can afford to do it.

the other thing is the guys in holland have been working on the ray breeding for about 5 yrs now and when rays were for sale at a fairer price

not to say the guy with the massive mega tank has proper money

Its alot of money to fork out, especially after buying an appropriately sized tank....
But even if you do get a better price over there, then isnt bringing them over here very expensive? Dont they have to stay in customs for like 3 months or something, or does it work differantly?

Mikey

No, fish inverts and reptiles dont have to wait in quarentine.

Most people just take the ferry over and drive back with the fish in poly boxes in the boot.

everytime i have been over it was for 2 of us to pick up rays so the travel costs are half round trip costs £60 petrol £49 for the euro tunnel

you dont need any kind of movment papers for tropical with within the EU but you need them for coldwater fish

the fish dont need to stay in customs every time i have been over the customs look in the box get everyone to take a look to see what you have just out of intrest and then wave you on its as easy as that :D

On the plane you would have to thought wouldnt you?
And you would need to declare what you have presumeably too...

Mikey

Ah. Do you get most/all of your fish from holland, or just your rays?
What species of ray have you kept?
Got any pics of the new dat?

i have kept loads of diffrent types of rays over the years but for the last 3yrs its just been p14 (the one in my avitar) and pearl rays i did have something called a black diamond which was a leopoldi type ray very very nice but chouldnt find a male to go with it

i will post new pic of the tiger at some point soon but he looks fine today :D

Cool i hope he makes it, he sounds like he will :D
Have you any pearls at the moment?
Ive actually seen some P14s, 5" disc £650 for a pair, not bad....I know they can be much more expensive...
You havent any pearls ATM do you?
Ive seen black diamonds before, but i prefer the P14 markings, they are gorgeous.

the p14s you have seen for sale at £650 are being sold buy a guy called chris ward or his wife Helen they come from the same place my rays come from in holland the guy selling them wants to be the main distributer in the UK as i cant be asked he has dropped his price on the last pair of p14s as i dont think their is as bigger market as he 1st thought

i am working on the breeding of the p14 and my freind has the pearls another female pearl was dropped of to us yesterday with the tiger fish

so yes we do have 4 x pearls and 4 x p14s now to work on breeding

i can get more pearls brought over next month if you are intrested but they are not cheap and im not a seller so you are best of talking to the guy/lady on free adds selling the p14s as they should be able to sort them out for you or you can drive over and pick them up yourself

Unforetunatly, my last tank that i was going to have sorted out (7x2x2) kind of got stamped out by the fact that it would go through the floor, and thats a real shame, as i would have got an awesome price for it, and would have probably had enough for a pearl or two cos im now selling my motorbike, and that would have been sweet, thanks for asking, but for the moment i think ill have to be an oddball/ray enthusiast, mius the rays lol.
My 38G will hopefully be set-up with some oddballs, but that will be it for now...
How much does he sell pearls for?
