well i got a paradise fish/gourami however you want to spell it..

and it jumped out of the filter hole in the hood, well i was just wondering if they do this all the time? im covering the hole with a piece of plastic, but do they

Are you talking about a paradise fish or a gourami? They are two different fish, but they are both anabantoids.

And yes, like bettas, they sometimes jump.

it's a paradise fish, but i have heard people say paradise gourami, so i put in the little slash mark...

Paradise fish and paradise gouramis are the same.

Yes, paradise gouramis are fabulous jumpers. The local LFS trained their paradise gourami to jump out of the water for food. He clears the top of the water by 3-4". My friend has a couple of paradise gouramis, and he's in the process of teaching them the same. This was, of course, after his female leapt out of the water for food! They are notorious jumpers.
