After a visit to the LFS to get a new couple of clown loaches, we somehow or another ended walking out with 2 puffers.......Know I am not real sure about this but I have a strange feeling that Don(Pufferpack) had something to do with it. He is the only person that I know of that could get Allie so worked up over them.....lol

So know in the 55 gal tank where my clowns should have been are 2 green little puffers......I still cant believe it

LMAO

Les

lol, that is funny. puffer working some magic there boy. :D congrats on the new fish les and allie. I got a few new yesterday too. I bought 2 farlowellas to replace silke and 3 poweder blue gouramis. soo pretty they are.. puffer, if your listening, keep that puffer mojo over there. I'm not allowed to have another tank and jane thinks puffers are cute. me too but she is nuts for them.

....so now Les the next step is look for some nice little stripped South American Puffers to compliment the Dwarfs

...sorry buddy, given enough time I'll have the whole forum converted :p
now Allie converts you, then you both work on CM...Turn him into PM

...Ya know Tanked & Jane...a 10 gal doesn't take up much room and could house a 3 pack nicely

Dont count your conversions numbers yet my friend, they might be nice but I am not addicted yet!!!!LOL
We have decided to name them Kirby and Hoover(ther 55 gallon tank vacs) so now you will know the names when you hear them...lol

Les

  ...wait till you see one swiming around with a snail stuck on her head   ...by the way, are they Dwarfs?

ps. Hows the knee doin?

not real sure if they are dwarfs or not......allie thinks they are green spotted puffers.....they have a kinda lime green coloring with the black dots and one has neon blue eyes, very odd to me.....she seems to like them so I guess I am cool with them.

Knee is off an on, if i would stop trying to be superman and give it chance to heal it might do better...LMAO

Thanks for asking, its nice to know people remember

Les

Yep, sounds like Green Spotted Puffer to me...Blue eyes are a dead givaway

Check Spotted Puffer for some good info :D

I'm sure once you settle from the move you'll have a chance to give it a rest...or Allie will tie you down   ...one or the other  :p

Remember...hex tanks don't take up much room and are great for Dwarfs   ...I'm sure you can find a nice quiet corner somewhere

After a lot of research I am pretty sure we have Green Spotted Puffers. They seem to have settled in real well. Hopefully I will be able to get them a tank of their own soon because I really don't want to take chances on them getting nippy with my bahias. I would get really really upset if they did!!!! The bahias are still my favorites! Looks like I'll be setting up a brine shrimp colony too as they won't touch the tubifex or flakes, all they will eat is the frozen brine shrimp.

Was offered some guppies today to use as feeders but not sure on that. I am not really fond of feeding live foods to my fishies.

They are some cute little buggers, like little helicopters going all around the tank but like my other fish they are camera shy! :(

Allie

Try frozen blood worms, or live if you can get them. As far as feeder fish go, the GSP's would probably kill them without eating them. :D

The lfs sells frozen blood worms, the only place I know of to get live ones is about an hour away. They love the frozen brine shrimp but will just go up to the flakes and freeze dried tubifex and sniff! lol In the lfs, they were eating his dwarf frogs. He said he looked up one day to see both of them with just the legs hanging out of their mouths! I know I can't afford to feed them frogs!

Probably will end up with a brine shrimp colony before too long. That way all my fish can have treats of brine. They all really seem to love them!

Allie

My little guys will only eat the frozen bloodworms, won't touch the tubiflex either. I can get them to eat brine or Mysis shrimp once in a while but they prefer the frozen bloodworms (haven't been able to find live).
 LMAO with the mental pic of a puffer swiming around with frog legs sticking out of it's mouth
When they get a little larger they will tear a crayfish apart in a heartbeat. I have also read that they like any seafood but fish, so you can try clams and mussels chopped into small pieces mixed with the frozen brineshrimp until they recognise it as food.

If you are lucky enough to have a male and female...too hard to tell them apart, I have read that Blackworm will induce spawning...something to think about in the future
