Couple of questions.

Is it true that ammonia causes danios to bleed from their gills?

What is the biggest problem you've had with Danios???

Yeah it's true though keeping up with water changes will minimise the damage.

My biggest problem, hrmm well they don't annoy my other fish, they don't hurt each other, they are hardy... also easy to catch, I can catch them with one hand as they are predictable. I suppose my biggest problem is trying to feed my other fish while the danios are in the same tank. Surface dwellers and incredibly fast means they end up with most of the food

When you say "bleed from the gills", do you mean the fish have sore or inflamed/red looking gills? Ammonia can cause this, but so can other things like parasitic flukes and bacterial gill infections.

I've personally never had any problems with danio's in particular, they are hardy little shoaling fish and are pretty easy to keep as far as their care goes- they are pretty adaptable fish. The only thing to worry about them in particular is that they can be nippy towards slow swimming fish with long flowing fins or feelers, like male betta's and gourami's, so are not ideal tankmates for these sorts of fish as they have been known on occasion to harass these fish.
