We have recently bought 3 zebra danios and 3 leopard danios. I've noticed that after feeding, 2 or 3 tend to swim around the bottom of the tank, looking for food. Does this mean we are not feeding them enough? We have no other fish in the tank yet so I'm not sure if they would normally swim on the bottom if there were some bottom dwelling fish.

My danios will go everywhere to feed, they are just greedy buggers! :p

I don't think it is anything to be worried about :)

P.T.

perfectly natural behaviour.

they are greedy little mites, are they not? :D

Some of mine rarely go more than a couple of inches from the bottom except when feeding.

They seem to eat just about anything as I recently discovered when I dropped an algae wafer in the tank expecting it to go uneaten.

It did - for two minutes -then the feeding frenzy started!

yep just like mine too! They go everywhere, top middle bottom, in and out of caves and plants etc. They will try to eat anything I put in there weather it floats or sinks to the bottom. I only have to make a noise on the hood or sit in front of the tank and they go mad thinking it's feeding time :)

My dad's danios stick to the top of the tank most of the time. Now that there's about 20 guppys living in his tank, the guppies dominate the top inch of water and the danios now swim around the plants about 8" underwater.
