:( Are danios avid eaters of molly fry? I read that they like to eat their own, but does that mean they like to eat all kinds of fry? I have a pregnant molly, and I don't want the danios to eat up all the fry.

Actually, my neon tetras leave them alone. My molly had given birth about a month ago, and the neons didn't try to eat them. The female molly didn't go after them, and she watched over them like a hawk and chased away the male if he got too close. The only other fish I have in my tank is a cory and an otto. I don't think they would go after them to try to eat them. So, do I have to worry about the danios? I didn't have them with the last batch. There is a new batch coming soon though, and I want them to survive.

Danios are VERY quick. If your fry don't head for the bottom and hide RIGHT away then yes, fat danios is what you will have. My mollie fry hit the water and dash for the thick, fake bushes on the bottom. I've got time for the net rescue, my guppie fry on the other hand swim at the top in the open (a danios favorite hang out) only reason I can save any is everyone has already eaten their share OR I'm right there as it is happening. The kids usually alert me - kids don't miss much
