Danio red/pinkspots

Hi everyone

I dont know alot about fish I rescued some fish some time ago and added 2 danios to the group.

I have one danio left (one I added) I after a google search assume he is a rose danio. He is roughly 5 and a half years old (bought him 5 years ago this month and he was roughly 6months to a year old according to the store)

Tonight I have noticed he is a little red looking at the gills on both sides really worried as I am really fond of him.

Any help is much appreciated.

where did you get the fish you rescued? did you quarantine them for 2 weeks before putting them in new tank?(it helps to identify diseases but i dont have a qt tank lol) or was it just now? pictures?

Sorry I'm new not used to forums I'll start from beginning.

Around 5 and a half years ago maybe a bit longer I went outside to my car and noticed a fish tank sitting in the middle of the pavement I went over and noticed 3 fish inside the water was cloudy ornaments and stones were black, just then I saw the person who lived in the house the fish were outside. I asked what they were doing outside in the cold etc she said hoping someone lifted them if not they are going down the toilet. So of course I took them inside.

Went to the store explained everything to a colleague they pointed me in right direction of everything I spent over 500 on a new tank filter medication done the cycle etc. They got better tank was good and I added 2 danios a few months later. So I had 5 in total 1 rescue passed around 2 months later he couldnt be helped the other 2 lasted around 2 years.

My 2 danios were left one passed away after around 3 and a half years of having him. My other danio is my little chap I still have now 5 years later, same tank he has always been in. I regularly check his water with strips etc all is well. He is roughly 5 and a half years old rose danio so the pink is noticable.

Hes eating swimming normally hes very fast, not at the surface or anything hes just normal but he looks like he has two ponkish/purple blotches on either side of his body something I have only just noticed.
