Well i havenow 2 danio fry that i know of and a bunch of other fry (6-8) that i'm not sure what they are...They do not look like the danio fry. They just sit against the edge of the fry net and they seem like their acting like catfish? but none of my cories ever seemed to be pregnant. Are they just danio fry that are much less developed or are they just some sort of daphnia pesky thing?

Egglayer fry tend to look like a small pair of eyes with a shard of glass behind them. Daphnia tend to be roundish and move in a hopping like motion. It is not unusual for fry to hang around surfaces pecking at them, they are feeding off microscopic animals.

Alright well i definently have 2 danio fry then, but the other ones don't seem to have defined eyes, their about the same length but like i said they hang against the bottom of the fry net and they are also more black.

Well i did a new count this morning. 13 Danio fry - 11 swimmers, 2 clingers. jeez i was only hoping to find about 7 fry. Ah well, i'm going to give 3 or 4 to my best friend and then keep 2. Put about 4 in a 5g with a betta and do you think i can give the rest to the lps?

I wouldn't move fry untill they are at least a month old!

Oh yeah i don't plan on moving them for a while! So i guess you recommend me moving them after a monthish? how big should they be by then? right now their only a week old and their TINY!!!

after a month they should be around 0.5 to 1 cm

Paul do you know where one might find a diagram of how big danio fry should be based on age? I can make one over the next few months assumeing my breeding attempt works but I'd like to have one to know how my fry are doing.

growth rate depends on many factors
temperature, abundance of food, water chemistry etc.
It is hard to say a definitave answer with all thes X-factors involved.

All I can say is around 6 months they are half the adult size, normally.

:dunno: Thx Paul, But are you sure about the six month figure it seems like a really long time and like my fry thats gone throught hell is a fast grower.

yes I'm sure, however they become sexually mature at 3 months or so.
This is why they are used in research, one can double the population in next to no time at all.
