Help. I looked in my tank this AM and a dwarf gourami was stuck in a hole in my big ship. I pushed him gently back through the hole. He must have been stuggling a while because he is missing a lot of skin. Is there anything I can do to help him? He looks like he hurts. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you have a "hospital" tank, I guess take him out and treat him with melafix, but honestly the thought of netting the little guy after all that sounds terrible IMO, I treated my entire tank when my betta got some fin damage, it cleared up in just a couple of days and none of the other fish seemed to mind a little melafix on their bodies, it probably did more good than harm

I added start right to the water to help restore the slime coat. He is staying by himself. Didn't eat. I put lights out early to let him rest. Hopefully he will be better tomorrow. At least other fish are leaving him alone.

aaaww poor little guy
good idea with the lights out, I'm sure he could use a good rest after such an ordeal
But I bet he'll be fine

Poor little fellow doyou have any ideal how long he was stuck to that thing He should be fine the melafix is supposed to help I am not a big fan of the stuff but other people loves the stuff.I hope it gets better.

Thank you both. I don't know how long he was stuck. I was cleaning the tank and he must have freaked out and tried to get out the hole. The ship is very large with lots of big holes and little ones. Must of headed for wrong hole. He is swimming today. Looks a little better. Very black line under his throat. Bare flesh not so red today. He will probably heal OK. Bet he doesn't try that again, although he is staying inside the ship most of the time. Poor little guy.
