My dalmation molly has been getting a bit aggressive ov the last 2 or 3 days. Not serious, but tending to chase away any other fish who get in her way. She is in with 4 black widow tetras, 2 albino corys and 2 orange tetras. Does anyone know if mollies are territorial?? All my readings are fine, although slightly high Nitrate levels.

that's exactly how my dalmation molly behaves. at first she was friendly enough but now she chases other fish, even if they're not in her way. i'd say they're territorial. was she the first fish in the tank? and are you sure she's not pregnant? that could be the reason too

If she is pregnant then it will be a cross breed as we have no other dalmation mollies!

She wasn't first in the tank either - the black widows were first. However we did have two dalmation mollies at the beginning and they had a really aggressive fight one evening. We almost separated them but they sorted it out. Then, a couple of days later one was dead so we thought they may have had another scrap??

yes, they can be a bit crotchety at times. i have five adults, 2 males and 3 females. how long have you had the molly? how long has it been since she's been the only molly in the tank? do you know what a prego molly looks like? my females tend to get that way more so in the last week before they drop fry. they're always a little territorial and will half-heartedly chase other fish, but in that last week, they become extra moody. look at her from the side. does her belly look bigger tahn normal? is it almost squared off (have corners) toward the front end and towards the back end? if so, she's prego and may soon give birht. mollies and otehr livebearers can actually store sperm for up to six months and continue to have fry from it, even she hasn't been around male for that time. thats why i ask how long you've had her and how long since you had the others.
