Daisy, my platy is acting very strange :/
yesterday she didn't eat and spent all day in a cave
she usually sticks with my 2 other platy and my female betta (who thinks she's a platy)
today she came out to eat but only ate a crum and went back to her cave
her fins are up and there is no scratching or marks on hre body ANYWHERE
my water is perfect and so is the temperature
there is no aggression whatsoever and the tank is well developed and balanced
it is not overcrowded
you can see the tank mates in my profile
but they have NEVER given chase or nipped
i am afraid that she will be one of those weaker bred fish that live only a short time as she is about 2 years old :byebye:

i'm so upset, buy i can't medicate her, as i see nothing physicaly wrong with her
its not internal parasytes, as her feces are normal and she doesn't have any symptoms other than hidding

just so you know platy are supposed to live 2-4 years
(in case you didn't :) )
I REALLY WANTED HER TO LIVE 4 YEARS :-(
oops sorry, caps lock :*)

Aw, I hope she's ok. Have you tried tempting her out with some tasty ( ) bloodworm or another fishy favourite?
i did roll a shrimp pellet into her cave (my platies LOVE them)
but she didn't touch it and the cory cats got it
my other fish are all in tip top shape so they'll go nuts if i give them blood worms
but that is a good idea
i'll try tonight when i feed the rest
thanx

any chance she's pregnant and in the non-eating stage?

heck, 2 years is great for most fish in this hobby. so if she is in the twilight of her life, she can rejoice that she got a good owner :D

well, daisy went after the blood worms
she was in the cave all day til feeding time and had about 4 blood worms
she seemed fine when she came out
when i turned off the lights, i noticed zorro (the male platy) going after Cinnamon (the other female platy)
but he wasn't attacking her, just frantically swimming beside her and bumping her
i'm pretty sure this was breeding behavior :*
but neither of the females are pregnant
maybe he's shooting blanks? :dunno:
