I have a new tank and i have put tights (stockings) with gravelfrom my cycled tank in and filter media from my cycled tnak in my new one. I want to know if it is safe to put fish in if so how many how often? Test results :AMMONIA 0 PPM NITRATE 0-5 PPM NITRITE 0 PPM.
The tank has been set up for 4 days
Thanks!

Have you left the media in the tank for 4 days without adding any ammonia? If so, afraid to say the bacteria may have died out already because there was no ammonia. The only way to know if you can add fish in is to add some ammonia in, wait 24 hours, and test the level. if there is no more ammonia, then you are good to go.

P.T.

what filtration have you got? anyway of adding some of the filter media from your old tank to yout new filter that should speed things up.

as a general rule you shouldn't add more than four new fish a week this gives the filter time to adjust to the new load, but keep checking your water this will let you know how things are progressing

Hi thanks for the replies so quick! I left the filter media from the old tank in the new tank overnight and have now added three blackwidow tetras and 1 balloon molly to the new tank. I cant add another filter media because that would mean my cycled tank would not have a cycled filter media! My new tank i have a fluval 4 plus and my cycled tank i have a fluval 3 plus. Any more suggestions are welcome!
Thanks again
