Please, please dont cycle a tank with fish - its not needed at all. The live rock will produce your cycle. test every 24 hours after the first three days, for ammonia spike, then a nitrite spike and then a nitrate spike. you cant guess how long a cycle will take, some people have no cycle as there rock is kept in water and put straight in the tank, others have a cycle of a week or so up to eight weeks or so if the rock is not cured.

But, please take out the Molly

ps you can run your skimmer, but you might not get much skim

thanks for your help i didnt put the fish in my tank as i dint want to kill the molly. after the cycle process has complete should i do a water change stright away or can i leave it and add clean up crew, fish etc

On a nano you would do a 50% water change as soon as you get your nitrate spike, then test again in 24 hours, if nitrates <10 then you can buy your cuc :good:

How big is your tank? and we would love to know your plans

thanks my tank is a 90 litre tank and i want to get a few softcorals (havent decided on which ones yet thro i want a green button polyp and i would like to get a couple of peppermint shrimps and sand shifing snails then are all this is complete and settled i want to start adding fish (2 clownfish 1 royal gramma and a 1 catalina goby) this is my plan atm but i always changing my mind on things

Thats nice stocking apart from the Catalina goby, i'm afraid you wont be able to have one of those, they dont like the high temp we have in our tanks, they need much lower temps, sorry

Seffie x

Yeah as seffie says the Catalina goby comes from cooler waters and will not survive in a full tropical marine tank. I believe I remember reading (but dont take my word for it) that they are also best kept in groups.
