I am starting a new 15 US gal tank, and I want to fish free cycle it first. I don't have any filter medium (the old tank filter is entirely different than the new one). Can I use one live plant and one fake plant from the established tank to introduce the bacteria???

I'm not sure where this should be posted.

Yes bacteria on plant should give tank good start, do u have your ammonia?

Also anything out the old tank - gravel is very good (large surface area) or cut some of the media from the old filter and push it into the new one to help 'seed' the media there....
