I have been doing a fishless cycle with amonia for about 2 weeks now. About 4 days into the cycle I started seeing nitrites and also nitrates but recently the nitrites and nitrates have gone away but I still have high amonia levels, about 4 ppm. This reading has not changed once throughout the whole cycle. Should this be happening?

Yes what you are experiencing is normal as far as i know, just give it time and eventually things will sort themselves out

Are you adding more ammonia every day or is this from the very first time you added it? If you are adding daily, wait till it drops to zero before you add again. Also, to do a successful fishless cycle, you will need extra aeration from an airstone. Most filters don't give you enough surface agitation to keep enough oxygen in the water.
