Cycling And Plants Are Dying?

I'm doing a fish in cycle and all my plants are dying(turning brown)??? I've been fertilizing. Is it because of ammonia. I thought they used ammonia?? Help anyone.

A couple of questions...

1. Size of the tank
2. Wattage of your bulbs & type?
3. How many hours are the lights on?
4. What type of plants did you get?

But... As they say, a picture says a thousand words... That would help a great deal. Yes, plants consume ammonia.
