Hi! I'm working on cycling a 10 gal for a female tank. This is my first time for fishless cycling. I have been putting 5 drops of amonia a day in for the last week, but still don't see much of a sign of nitrites. I didn't put any gravel from one of my other tanks because I am currently treating them for Velvet. How long should this take to cycle? I'm hopeing soon cause I don't want my females isolated too long. I don't want them to get too used to living alone. Here's a pic of it. I am working on making some more hiding places for it. There is some plant bulbs in there, but they havn't started growing yet. Thanks!
Have you been measuring the ammonia to see how high it is after adding the ammonia? If not, you'll want to do that because not all ammonias are the same concentration and you may need more than 5 drops to do anything. Also, if you aren't able to add any gravel or material from an established tank, it will take quite a while, possibly up to a month. Here is a link to my, "How to do fishless cycling", this comes from my experience of doing fishless cycling in several tanks.
