hi

well, got my 180ltr girlie tank filled with water and loads of plants, have read and re read all the fishless cycling stuff..........think i must be either getting old or just plain daft. i really cant get my head round it  the tank has been running for nearly a week, i have been feeding it with fish food............has my tank started cycling yet??

by the way only just got the test kit so only have two sets of readings, but they are same

ammonia 0.4
nitrite 0.5
nitrate 50 mg
ph 8.5

today was given lots of sludgy stuff from my friends filter, lovely, hope that will speed things up.......should i continue to feed the tank?

the wait is driving me mad :hyper: i am so looking forward to getting those little girls from bettaman

Nope, but you're getting there.

First you will probably see your ammonia levels drop to 0, then the nitrites. When your nitrites and ammonia readings are 0, and you are registering a nitrate level, your tank is cycled.

Good luck!

thanks for that............thought the tank had started to cycle...........but it just so dang complicated lol
