Hi, I'm planning on building a bar in my basement. This will be a liquor/sushi bar. In order for me to figure out exact dimensions of my bar, I want to incorporate a fish tank and go from there. My bar will be at least 36" deep, maybe 42" deep. Behind the bar section will be the sushi/liquor prepare area, and in front of the bar will be the sitting/eating area. and in the middle of the top of the bar will be a raised area for a separate counter space. So it'll be similar to pyramid style. Kind of like at the sushi bar restaraunts. Now, under the raised counter space in the middle, instead of being solid underneath where you can't see through, like some of the restaraunts, I was thinking of building a long end to end or even a middle section of a long fish tank, but a narrow one like around 6" deep maximum, maybe 8". I don't want to make the depth of this sushi bar too deep, so the fish tank has to be narrow. Height wise, I'm not too sure, it can be roughly be the same 6" to 8". But again, the tank would be wide about 6ft maybe?, depending on how I want to support top counter. Bar length would be about 8ft, that 8ft would include an "L" shape going back. Just lookin for ideas, please throw some at me for my tank.

Fish choice will be difficult with a tank in those dimensions.. water circulation would be a pain too.. but it could work out very interestingly.. I think you should be looking at either fast flow with hillstream loaches and white cloud mountain minnows (coolwater) or slower flow with many small tropical fish.. the biggest challenge would be to make sure you have fish which do not spook easily and can live in such a long tank..

Welcome to the forum Syacoub.
Your bar tank will be difficult to find unless you have one custom made. A tank that is 8 inches deep and tall with a 6 foot length would be great for some of the smaller fish. It will give them lots of room to get going while being near typical dimensions front to back and top to bottom of the smaller tanks we often use. I think a 5.5 gallon tank is about that tall and that deep. To cure the water circulation problem, use an external filter and return the water to the opposite end of where you take it from the tank. How about some nice zebra danios or even endlers to fill out that tank with lots of movement and even some nice color.
