People I know have a sw tank (lucky ducks) and they were advised 6mnths ago that an ocellaris & sterbai will pair up....to me this doesn't sound right but I'm curious what you guys think.

Just a heads up, I don't really get along with the girl so I can't advise them against this at all. I just feel sorry for the ocellaris because it's been stuck in a floating net the while time because the sterbai bashes it up.

a sterbai is a cory, do you mean a sebae?

i think either are about as likely for a pair with an ocellaris ;)

Whoops! Got my fish mixed up - definitely didnt mean sterbai :p now I don't remember what it is called... Could possibley be sebae.

I feel sorry for the ocellaris & he's a black & white which is hard to get around here.

Wont happen, the Sabae will likly kill the Ocellaris.

She won't add fish. It's technically the ex's tank...they split, he's pinged off, she's left with tank she knows nothing about and refuses to take advice, has no interest in learning about it and is about to ping off as well and leave house to friend. Friend knows little about fish (told me not to worry about ammonia/nitrite tests only worry about pH. when I insisted this was wrong ammonia/nitrite was more important i got a simple, "I know what I'm doing, I've had tanks forever! Your just trying to make it difficult!" :grr: ) and when I offered her help with the tank if she ever needs it I got shrugged off basically. Both very full of themselves and do not believe I've actually done my research (because what would I know when I've never had SW, despite the fact I've done hrs upon hrs of research and looked at pretty much ever post on here  ).

*shrugs* All I can hope is the fish are tough :/

I know you really want a SW tank, so I wonder if you could convince the person "inheriting" the tank to give it to you or buy it cheap off them? Especially after she (I'm guessing a she) has had the tank for a while and starting to get sick of it, or worse case has a couple of deaths.
