I feed my Mbuna and Sailfin Plec cucumber - weighted down with a couple of lead plant weights pushed through - they all love it B)

I gave my lot some shelled and cooked king prawn tonight and one fish or a buch of others havn't let alone since ranging from bristlenoses to angels, rams, swordies and my male VT betta, the only things that havnt had ago are the RTBS

Katchan

That is one cute pleco. Wish they would all stay that size! hehe

It looks like he wedged it under the rock? I used to do the same or just stick mine in the sand and it would stay until it was eaten down or worked loose.

hi i have never tried cucumber before ive just nicked a bit and it started to float but icovered the bottom half under my gravel so 3 quarters of it is showing the cories have had a little nibble but not that interested my my pleco is sucking somwhere else lol he will be out soo wont he.

I normally put a bit of chicken in whenver i have it, usually gets snapped up quickly, if it doesn't, the crabs are more than happy to clear up ;)

I'll give 'em some cucumber later, might try some carrot aswell.

If you fish like cucumber you should also try zucchini. I recently started to feed my fish carrots once in a while and they seem to love it. If you try this make sure it is cut up small enough to fit in their mouths because they can’t seem to break it up like they can with cucumber/zucchini.

boil it and it will sink
Sorry i missed all your posts, thanks for all your complements! :*) He sure is one really cute plec, to me anyway, but your right Iron man, i wish they did stay this small!

Boiling it wont do it any good, whilst it may sink, it removes alot of nutrients and it would soften, causing it to disintergrate over a short period of time in your tank water, and youd neva get it back out. I think its best to leave it in your tank for a few good hours or more to let the pleco have a chance at getting a surficient meal from it.

I squeeze the clear areas in the middle of the slice, these contain minute air pockets. If that dont work, yep, its under the rock for the poor old cucumber! :p

boiling does not remove nutrients...yes it softens it, making it easier for the fish to eat it, and never clouding the water because they eat it too fast really...but i suppose it does give the pleco somethin to work at, even though my large bnose works on a fat chunk of boiled cucmber for over 2 hours usually :dunno:
