Possibly not. It grows to upto 18 inches and is an aggressive fish. Minimum tank size is 125 gallons. Totally incompatible with a nano tank. SH

 You put that in a Nano?

These guys are extremely toxic when they die as it's a defense mechanism. If eaten or stressed they release a powerful toxin to ward off predators and this is also released upon death as a final act of vengance.

My advice.......take it back and never shop at that LFS again, if they are prepared to sell one of these without knowing the conditions is going to be kept in then they are useless.

I love boxfish/cowfish etc.. I think they have such character and they are so ammusing to watch, i really do see the magnetism of them.. Saying that however i would never have one in my large reef. Nice fish but this is a similar fish to many others that are out there such as Battfish and to a slightly lesser degree moorish idols.. If you search the net for the most fantastic reef setup or just about any longterm sucsful reef you simply wont ever see these fish. Experienced marine hobbiests know well enough to keep well clear of them... If you go to a fish shop and see a fish you like the look of.. think back to th enet and try to remember any tanks you have seen that might have one of these fish before you buy it.
