crushed coral for fresh water tank?

Is it possible to substitute coral for gravel in a fresh water tank? I've read that it can have a buffering affect on the ph level of the water. I would be stocking it with angels.

I beleive crushed coral drives the PH way up to somewhere around 8 or something like that. I don't know what PH angels need so I don't know if you could or not. All I know is that crushed coral will raise your PH.

Your ph will be at about 8.2, which is adequate for most African Cichlids.

You can but like other people have already said, the PH will shoot up.
