the title pretty much says it all... some of my crowntail betta's rays have been bending slightly, close to the tips. one of them almost looks broken off, about a milimeter from the tip of the ray. is this a bad thing? what could be causing it? what can i do to fix it?

Same with mine. That's the kind of thing the show-betta people go crazy trying to breed out of their fish. The difference between them and us petstore folk... and the reason some of those fish out there are $100+. :)

it's a common problem even with high quality show bettas. water quality (not aging water) has a lot to do with it from what i've heard. bacteria is also a culprit.

Stress, Old Age, Bad Water... lots of reasons. Just feed him good for a while (frozen foods - live if possible) & water change. Have you made any changes to his tank recently? How old is he? (past 8 months this happens)

Not-curling is not the only reason those fish are $100s...

I'm trying so hard to hold myself back on this one; but that is not the only difference between 'them' and 'us petstore folks' -_-

I'm not an 'us petstore folks'...
