hi, i have two femlae kribensis at home, an albino and a yellow cheeked krib. and today i saw another male kribensis so i bought him to c if i can get a pair. anyway the male is a scarlet krib and i waqs wondering that will it breed with the others? and if hes does what will the babies come out as, or will they come out as half albino and half scarlet?

thanks :)

it's preferable not to cross breed different species of kribensis because the young will be fertile hybrids. This means you will be changing the species from the way nature intended.
Most shops won't buy hybrids either so you will end up with a bunch of weird coloured fish that you can't get rid of. Just try to stay within the species

Personally, I say go for it. I think it will be sweet. You'd best take this down to the hybrid forums though, most people think cross breeding as too "controversial". I'm all for it. If nature didn't intend it, then why are they in the same genus?

It isnt cross Breeding. They are the same fish, just a color variety. You will most likely get alot of scarlet kribs and a few regular, and if not breed with other scarlets, then they will eventually become regular kribensis again, and no, breeding brothers and sisters dosent always do the future kribs any good color or health wise.
