i have a fluval 205 on my aquarium and it is always on but my bristlenose keeps ramming it and sticking his head in it i thought he got caught originaly but when i swithced it off he swam away. then when i turn it on he goes and sticks his head in it? and he does the this multiple times and what i dont understand is that its the filter outlet hes sticking his head in. you know the one that blows out the water making a current ?

Does the outlet have any algae or slime growing inside it? Is the plec looking underweight at all (check its stomache)?

add some caves to the main tank... it might be looking for a nice dark hole to live in ;)

either that or the tanks O2 level is low and the hight current helps.

Bristle noses love the current. Mine take it in turns to stick their heads right near the outlet and get hit in the face with the water and bubbles. Even the 30-40mm babies do it. They never try and actually get into the tube thought just sit right by it.

Hope this helps

Dylan

Thats a strange one! My Rubbernose decided to clean the outlet pipe the other day... it had the shock of its life when it put its sucker right on the outlet..... it didnt stay there long

i have an air stone so plenty of air he doesnt seem particularly fat i give him an algae tab every 2 days and there is plenty of hair algae in the tank, maybe he just loves the current

They don't eat hair algae do they?

The larger of my two bristlenoses loves sitting in the current with all his bristles getting blown about. He also sits on the filter itself (I assume he's after the algae). So I guess they just like the current as we've got an airstone as well as a pump in our tank as well.

Ours definitely isn't hungry: he has an algae wafer every day and a piece of cucumber every couple of days.

It seems they just like the current. I've also noticed they like squeezing into tight space?
