I have a heavily planted tank, and I've been using Flourish Excel to help stabilize co2 during the photo period.
Lately I have been looking into DIY co2 set-up as they are relatively easy to build, and maintain.
Looking through all the info on the net is when it struck me...
I could actually build a CO2 generator that can produce co2 for my plants, and in 2 weeks produce a couple pints of BEER for me!
Principles are the same. Yeast consumes the wort sugars and produces byproduct of CO2 and alcohol. The liquid remaining....beer!
Just swap out cane sugar for wort made from barley and hops, and bakers yeast for brewers yeast.
The only problem I foresee is keeping temperature of the fermentation vessel cool enough consistently.
I probably couldn't make a lager, but I might have luck with an ale which ferments between 65-71 degrees.
Any ideas on how I can keep a cool temp?
