can u help me my albino Corys are going crazy they keep on shooting to the top of the tank diving trought all the other fish and also heading to to the top to eat? i feed them what they can eat in 4 min a day when i feed em they just sit on the bottom of the tank again and lie theyre for 10 min before theyl move is this normal?
all my other fish seem ok arnt like this

Sounds like fairly typical cory behaviour. IMe they are either shooting madly around the tank or sitting tucked up in a cave. They come up to the surface to breath air, it's normal behaviour for them. Mine don't particularly seem to come up for food, though, what do you feed them?

hi Flame, ive got an albino bronze corydora too, every 3 mins or so he will shoot up to the top, i do not think it is for food, i think this is him getting some fresh air, if you want to feed him you can give him catfish pellets or frozen brine shrimp as they sink to the ground quite nicely and my cory hoovers them all up in 3 seconds flat! he loooves them  Also, i find he can sometimes be (like yours) in hyperactive moods and swims and swims round the tank like there is no tommorow :D i love corys and i'd like to re-assure you that this is perfectly normal behaviour forthe species ;)

Hi Flame :)

Corys sometimes rush to the surface and gulp air, but this should not be something they constantly do. They are not normally air breathers, like bettas or gouramis. They do not have labyrinths like they do, but instead are able to take a breath of air and swallow it so they can absorb oxygen through their intestines. This adaptation helps them survive times in their natural habitat when the river is turbulent and muddy and the oxygen level of the water is low.

Think of it like a yawn. Sometimes you might yawn to get a little extra air when you are feeling tired. It often perks you up a bit. Funny thing is, have you ever noticed that when one person yawns, others in the room sometimes do the same? Corys are like that too, and when one starts, the others sometimes follow.

I've often seen mine do this when they have been playing actively for some time. It's fun to watch! :D
