I'm thinking about getting a crayfish for my cichlid tank that has an oscar, a jack dempsey, and a opaline gourami. I'm going to be putting 2 firemouths in there latter. Do crayfish go good with these guys?

I'd say no as it'll either eat you Gourami, the Oscar will eat the Crayfish or one of the other fish might get eaten/try to eat the crayfish. Ideally they're a species only fish though sometimes they can go with medium sized community or semi-aggressive fish.

Anyone who says they'll go in a tank with smaller community fish is either lying, ignorant or just lucky so far their crayfish hasn't taken one of their fish yet. While they can be well fed and given plenty of protection and hiding spots to slow their predation on other fish, eventually they will. Rarely can they go with anything peaceful or small and I wouldn't risk it unless you have experience keeping them first and knew what fish to keep them with.

Depending on the species, size and temperment some can go with certain fish under the right circumstances but I just think it's asking for trouble in the long run otherwise.
