You all seem like you know what you are talking about, so i come to you for advice. I am setting up a 20L tank, and i am going to build it around a crayfish. So what fish can live peacefully with a crayfish? what have you been successful with?
I know crayfish eat slow moving or large tailed fish.
Help? :fish:

Zebra Danios they are to fast for the crayfish and they stay at the top of the tank

I've kept crayfish, but that was a long time ago.

Couldn't really keep any plants in that 15 gallon tank as long as Mr. Crayfish was tearing everything up, and no fish mates, either. Then again, I didn't try Danios, though I've had those before (sans crayfish). Seems they'd be fast enough to evade capture, but I think you would need more than 20L to allow the fish some evasive room away from that little clawed beastie.

thanks for the comments, i have been researching and i think possibly maybe a red tail shark. when i buy the cray fish and shark they will be small. but as they grow i have some other larger tanks to switch them to.
they are both aggressive so i think it will work.
what do u thinK?

In a tank that small the crayfish could easily catch a young RTBS.

depending what species of crayfish you get some will grow up to 1ft. so a crayfish this size would require 250litres or there abouts.

if your in the UK the blue lobster is the only species you can get legally which does grow to 1ft.

Don't attempt to keep any fish with your crayfish. Like Paul MTS said, it could easily catch the RTBS. To keep a crayfish with fish safely, you need a big tank with big fish that aren't interested in eating the crayfish themselves or top-dwelling fish in quite a large tank that are guaranteed to not end up as an expensive crayfish snack.

There is no fish that would be very safe to put with a crayfish. A lot of it depends on the crayfish. Some will never catch and kill fish, some will do it on occasion. I put feeder guppies and rosies in my tanks and they are seldom eaten, though when it happens, its not as tragic.

since there is no safe fish to be put w crayfish i have given up on it. i picked up a molly fish and a red tailed shark
