I have neon's, guppies, white clouds and zebra's in my 30g tank. I also have a 2 inch crayfish and had a cory cat.

The cory cat was dead this morning. Should I suspect the crayfish? Should I get rid of the crayfish?

Could I declaw the crayfish so it still cleans my tank buy can't catch my fish?

Thanks
Ray

The cray will most likely kill any fish it can catch off guard.I doubt that you could take the claws off and it would be pointless cruelty to do so.There are many peaceful tank cleaning creatures that will not pose a threat to other fish.I keep a crayfish in a tank of it's own just because I enjoy him for what he is.They are fascinating creatures in their own right.

Thanks for the reply. My wife would not let me do it anyways. I guess it is off to the Pet Store for him, or maybe the creek behind my house.

Is there any other similar creature that I could keep in the tank? I really like watching the crayfish, but I am not going to setup a tank just for it. Are there any types of shrimp that are safe with small community fish?

Thanks
Ray

When i got home from work it was eating one of my zebra danios, I can't believe it caught one, they are the fastest fish in my tank.

I dropped him off at the nearest stream. I bought 8 ghost shrimp to take his place

You could also look into cherry shrimp and other color variations.

Do not simply release any animals into your local ecosystem in the future, because if it isn't a species native to your area, it can screw up the said ecosystem. Why don't you return them to your lfs in the future, you may even be able to get some store credit. :)
