Your concern could be well justified Ste2k3,
Most crabs are 'opportunists' ie. they will grab what they can and much happily.
However, I kept 2 Red Claw Crabs with Angels for over 6 months with no disasters.
Angels float midwater when asleep, but if the get too near a piece o bogwood or plants, you never know who might get a claw in the back!
Neons and similar tetras sleep almost on the bottom and could be a tasty midnight snack.
Bear in mind the differnt needs of both. Crabs need hard water to re-generate their shell, they also appreciate, but dont necessarily need salt in the water depending on species. Angels like warm water 26C or thereabouts, crabs like cooler, 22 - 25C max. Crabs like to escape, so the tank needs to be well covered, but have some form of land to sunbathe on.
Crabs are very interesting pets, and are fun to watch, but you need to be careful of medications and NitrAte, they are very sensitive to it.
Overall I would say its a tough call, you must get the balance right. Choose a male and two females if you have the room, 2ft +
Males have larger claws and the flap under the belly is pointy, females have smaller claws and the flap under the belly is rounded, almost reaching where the legs meet the body.
Good Luck,
Ken
PS, all the above refers to the Red Claw Crab (Sesarma Bidens, Gaeticus Depressus) Other crabs Ive seen prefer to live on land but need access to water ie hermit and rainbow crabs. Not to be mixed with Angels or any other community fish.
