Are cowfish compatible with a community tank?

Are cowfish compatible with a community tank?

Interesting question. If you're a first-time marine aquarist, I would NOT try a cowfish in a community tank. They can nuke a tank and kill all inhabitants by releasing toxins when stressed, not a great beginner fish :)

I have a longhorn cowfish in my tank with a maroon clown, regal tang, blue & gold damsel, royal gramma and goby. She is a lovely, well behaved, entertaining fish who is full of character. I suppose it would depend on the behaviour of the fish you already have and how well behaved your cowfish is.

The tank has been set up for about 1 year. Still lots of free swinmming space!

x4 Bartlett's Anthias (Pseudanthias bartlettorum)
x1 Caribbean Blue Tang (Acanthurus coeruleus)
x2 Ocellaris Clown (Amphiprion ocellaris)
x2 Scarlet Cleaner Shrimps (Lysmata grabhami)
x1 Red Sea Cleaner Wrasse (Larabicus quadrilineatus)
x2 Sand Sifting Starfish (Archaster typicus)
x1 Jewel Wrasse (Macropharyngodon bipartitus)
x1 Red Starfish
x3 Banana Wrasse (Helichoeres chrysus)
x1 Fridman's Dottyback (Pseudochromis fridmani)
x1 Green Chromis (Chromis viridis)
x1 Coral Beauty (Centropyge bispinosa)
x1 Sailfin Angelfish (Genicanthus lamarck)
x2 Regal Tang (Paracanthurus hepatus)

That tank is already too small for the fish you have in it, that many fish in the tank would stress out a newly introduced cowfish badly.
