Good day, I have My fish tank in the dining room and it is a very lighted area And at night when I'm using my lights I put a blanket on itto cover my fish tank from the lights. What are you guys doing To make sure my fish Get enough night time while my lights are on but my fishies need night time darkness?

Do you mean you leave your lights on at night when you are sleeping?

You should turn off your lights when you sleep at night for the fish to rest and sleep.

You can use a small light if you really need to turn on your light at night.

For me, I use a small 1W LED bulb (it's an Ikea table lamp which I changed it to the lowest wattage bulb available) at night.

I also use something to block the light to further reduce the light.

I am currently using a blanket to stop my 40W to go in my fish tanks... Is it a good idea

Can you get a tank's lid to cover it?
If not, get some black plastic sheets to cover it.
Or you can DIY some black plastic or cardboards/boxes to cover it.

The easiest way is to turn off your 40W when you sleep at night. Replace it with a small lamp or bulb.

It should be fine, I cover my tank with a towel all the time because it's in the room which I study in and I study late
