Ok, my tank is recycling, have a .5 nitrite atm...... I also just noticed signs of ich on a couple of my fish..... should I treat now? or when I'm doing recycling???

and What you do you reccomend for treatment? thanks, this is my first case :/

Yes treat straight away if they look like they have been sprinkled in salt, don't leave whitespot untreated it can kill them, don't no your location so hard to pick a med.

I'm in the US. I have a couple of local fish shops around here, as well as Petco and Petsmart

And does it depend on the med, for if I should remove my carbons?

Quickcure is meant to be good, yes remove carbon always when you add med as the carbon will take the med out of the water.

Good luck.

You could also use this medcine called NOX-ICH And I think its kinda cheap and it cured fish 2 different cases of it. It really works. But the bad thing about it is that it stains the silicon on the corners of the tank for a few months and it turns the water blue.

Ok, they didnt have either of those brands... I got AP Plus+ CURE-ICK .. the active ingredients are malachite green and formalin ... hope this is good ?

the website on the bottle is www.aq-products.com if that helps you see what it is.

On the label it says " take out carbon and discard " ... Do I need to toss it ? or will it be fine to stick back into my filter after I am done treating??? The carbon surely cant have ick can it ?

Wow, my water turned as blue as can be.... looks kinda cool LOL, but poor little fishies... stuff made my finger itch like a bugger when I got it on me, i cant imagine how they feel :( years of keeping betas.. and a couple of months of a community tank... I was doing so well at first, darn ick :(

Yes ditch the carbon no good once removed from water, yes a good med if it has malachite green in it main ingriedient to treat whitepsot, good luck, yes water will be blue.

And the reason they say to throw it away is because ick does get on the carbon and if you put it back in the tank after you cure your fish you will reinfect your fish.

Also it dosn't work once it has dried up.

The carbon will absorb the chemicals in the medicine. That's why you want it out of the filter during treatment. Be patient and leave the meds in for several days after the spots disappear from the fish, or it will come back.
Good luck!
