hello i have been looking everywhere for these guys and my lfs said they have some in but im skeptical as i can only tell the difference between C.Sterbai and C.Julii by the yellow fins on C. Sterbai, and these dont have the fins.

also what size do these guys get to? i have been thrown from 2"-4", which is it?

will they uproot well establised plants like amazon swords?

and wouls they appriciate a sort of plains setup? my aquascaping is going to have narow leaf chain swords as a carpet with a plastic ruin and larger swords such as amazons, melons and some ludwigia among it, then a sort od open area with nothing but sand, will this be ok for them?

are they sensitive to anything in particular?

do they breed readily?

would a shoal of 5 be ok in my 55gal? and if i get a 75 gal would they be ok with another shoal of 5 C. Adolphi?

how much do they cost in the market nowadays?

thank you for your time and effort guys. i really appreciate it.

Ok definately not an expert so may need to wait for peeps to see this before some valid answers but i will give it a go!

With identification it is usually the trilli and julli that get mixed up. Sterbais have a much more definate patterning from what I have always seen. As to the store welllll that is a risk with all stores and you can but try, i went to buy hastatus and they were true pygmies so different dealers etc different labels.

With the size it varies again first on whether it be a female or male, in most of the cory species it is the female that is bigger. From what I have seen of the Sterbais they are at the larger end of the scale.

The setup sounds good, as long as they have cover etc, it is good, some cories are shyer than others and like to have retreats they can resort to as dont always like to be out in the open.

Cories in general are sensitive especially meds and water parameters, so best ensure that the tank is well cycled and stable before adding these.

I think from reading on here cories breed readily, it depends how happy they are with the set up and how settled and mature. One of the breeders will be able to tell you how they are in comparison to other cories.

The shoal of 5 in the 55gal sounds good, though other stocking would need to be provided to make sure as to other bottom dwellers etc.

Price depends on your area. Around south here I have seen from £3.50 right up to £6, it is a case of searching perhaps the internet if locally it is expensive.

Hope that has helped!

so the yellow fins is not a good waypoint for ID?

the only other fish that will be in the tank now is 2 otos and a stripped raphael catfish, which is why i asked the size question, in the 75 i might add a phantom plec and def. another stripped raphael.

yeah i knew that they were sensitive, and i should be fine with them because i also keep dwarf neons which are notourious for dieing rather quickly.

the breeding thing sounds good, i asked because i heard that these guys are impossible to breed.

Hello the yellow thing may be valid, I just dont use it or know! I have read elsewhere of people breeding sterbais, they might be a bit more difficult but dont believe impossible.

Hopefully someone will drop by to verify or give a bit more on my answers x
