im sorry but i cant put up pictures
but heres a description of them at the moment

AT B 1 or darker red stripe

is about 1" long
2/3 cm wide
orange with white stripes
shiny golden/orange face
orange front fins
bright red band on dorsel fin
shiny cheeks

AT B 2 or other

is about 1" long
2/3 cm wide
yellow with white stripe
light and smaller red dorsel band
not very shiny face
shiny cheeks
lighter orange front fins

now does that mean i have 1 m 1 f or just another stressed male? because i know the other (ATB 1) is a bully but theres nout i can do really till i get my new tank

any pics would be greatfull ta

sexing albino and green TBs is the same as for normal ones
a good indication is
males will have a red nose and a red trailing edge to the dorsal fin,
females will not.

how big are they.
sorry I should've said sexually mature males,
young males won't have red either.
if they are small TBs then you will just have to wait untill they are sexually matured.

do you only have the two TBs?
they really need to be in large groups (personally I'd recomend 8 as min group, but others say 6)
they have a reputation for being fin nippers in small groups.

yes i know they should be kept in groups of 6+ as so should the cory (3+ i think)
but my 4.5 cant really stetch to the numbers required but im hopefully getting a new 30 UKg tank (fluval duo deep 800)

i think AT B 1 is a male as far as i can tell because it has a very orange face/nose where as the other doesnt

when do they reach maturity?

hi
ive also found that the mature female tbs tend to have deeper rounder bellies, the males are more 'arrow' shaped. easy to see if you have both m&f.

see they were both brought out of a tank with like 20 in, and they all looked the same really, but i think thats because they are young ones, but i cant go wrong with getting a female can i ?!? oh wait unless they were both male...

its hard to tell when they are young. the noses & bellies tend to show more as they get more mature. as said they are happier in a bigger group (6+) and also need a lot of long swimming space( ie: hex tanks really are no good for them) a mature barb can reach 2 1/2 inches not including their tail. :)

wow thats quite alot bigger then i thought, i thought they grew to around 1.5", its a good job im in the process of perswading my mum for a new tank (IVE GOT TH EMONEY JUST NOT HER PERMISION)
