K, wal-mart used to carry those cheap betta hexes that was just ugly and unefficiant.

Now they have a new betta hex for $4.89.

It's got a see through blue lid with a blue divider for the bettas, so they can't see eachother to fight! Removes for double the space for one betta (what I do). Comes with two plants that attatch to the bottom by snapping into the filter instead of those cheesy ones that float to the top. Also has a built in undergravel filter with matching blue gravel. What I think is the coolest and best for the bettas is this; Instead of having to remove your betta into a different cup to clean the tank it has a lever that you pull on the bottom which drains the water and activates the undergravel filter, pulling all of the crap through the gravel and out of the bottom of the tank, removing the waste and need to remove your betta (which I think causes more stress). The whole tank is very modern looking and just cool for the price. Comes with conditioning tablets too. The only thing it doesn't have that marina betta does is food, which if you buy the food separate and the betta the whole thing is still cheaper then one marina betta kit. COOL! I'm glad wal-mart did this because newbies will take better care of their fish, even if they don't know it! The hex is also rounded instead of sqaure which makes it look modern. I'm happy, next time I see that betta I just have to get, I'll try one of these!!!!   ;) :D :) :hey:

Sounds very interesting - but I do have one question, do you know how much water they hold? Half gallon, 1/4 gallon? Thanks :).

Sorry, I don't know for sure. But I'll tell you when I buy one!

heya! i was just gunna ask if when you do buy one could you please post the specifics about it. like what the brand name is, and stuff like that so that i know what to ask for when i go to walmart!! hehe sounds awesome!!! :D ~dEx :*

Same here, can you let us know how it goes etc. I'm in the Uk and wouldnt mind gettin one through mail order cos i don't think they do them over here in the uk. I really wanna get a betta... just the one for now.. but who knows i'll probably end up with loads

Anyway at that price i'm well interested as even small tanks are expensive over here..

Cheers and Merry christmas!

They do do some Hex kits over here Adam, but yeah they are expensive! :(

I usually spend the momeny and get my Bettas a proper little glass tank, about £9 for a 3g...unfortunately you still have to but heater, etc, but still not too expensive! :)

It's by Penn Plax, due to come out 2004.

This pic is temporary.

Today I looked for these at Walmart and found for $5, but they really are pretty darned small. I'm not a fan of the common betta hexes, and this one is about the same size. The water system looked like it might be a hassle too, you'd hafta pick up the tank and drain it over something, and I know my fish don't like being moved. Basically (for my fishies at least), it would be just as stressful, if not more, to clean their tanks this way instead of using a baster. By the time mine get used to the baster invading their space, they could care less. I decided to use my 5 dollars on a gallon kritter keeper instead.
