I have a ph of 7.4 and i get lots of diffrent answers when i search online . I would like to keep 6 or 7 in a 20gal planted tank with some sparkling gouramis and otos. Do you think they would be ok?
Threadfin rainbows, (I. werneri), are pretty easy to keep in terms of water, I never found them to be demanding, just clean water. They have small mouths and so there were a few small feeding issues, but nothing overly tough.
Whether you can keep them in that tank or how many really depends on how many of the other species you have, which you don't say.
At the moment the tank doesn't have any fish i'm planing on cloning it soon. I would like to stock it with the threadfins, some sparkling gouramis, and 1 or 2 otos.
I have Threadfin Rainbows, sparkling gourami and ottos together in a 45 gallon and there have been no issues between them. To me it sounds like a making of a great tank.
I wasn't suggesting there would be a problem with the stock mix. We are, however, dealing with a 20 gallon tank here and a group of 6-7 werneri makes a serious dent in the stocking capacity. Those fish plus an undisclosed number of gouramies plus Otto's is heading towards an overstocked tank.
