Ive had otos before in my small tank. But they didnt last very long. Ive heard theyre very sensitive to new enivromnets but do you think its cause my pH is 8. I cant lower it what so ever but all the other fish seem fine.
Do you reckon i should just try them and see if they survive. It could have been that there wasnt enough algae in the tank so they starved. Il add alage wafers, lettuce and cucumber this time :good:

they need very mature tanks, they ae wild caught so arent perticulary strong.
the PH of 8 shouldnt be that bad, my ph was high in one tank and they survived,
feeding is an issue, those foods you mensioned are good
the best you could do is buy 2, float ing tank, add tank water ever 20 mins and hope for the best, if they survive you could add more later.

Which tank is it for? Otos need to be in groups of at least 3, preferably 5 or more. Your 70l is already fully (if not over) stocked (and needs some work on the stocking list - balas need a 6ft tank as they get to 12"+ and need to be in large groups, and glowlights need to be in a groups of 5 or more - but as you're already fully stocked, you'd need a bigger tank to do that), and your other tanks would be too small for a group of otos.

Your shrimp should do a good enough job of cleaning the tank? If not, they're only small tanks, it'd only take a few minutes with an algae scraper to sort it out :)

Otos are extremely sensitive to water quality, and in a small fully/over stocked tank, it'd be pushing it tbh. It's a good excuse for a tank upgrade though - imagine the possibilities with even just a 20-30g ;)
