I have this male who's just not very masculine, I mean he has decent length fins so I think hes a male, no ovipositor or anything, but even though he's very active hes not at all agressive, hes never once flared, when put in the breeding tank with a female he hides from her and shows no interest what-so-ever, he's over 4 months old, so I don't know what to make of him, Could he be a she? Or is he just very laid back?

Its probably just a shy, mellow boy; I have one of those. He's terrified of females, never flares, never bubblenests, and is very laid back and peaceful. I couldn't get him to flare at a mirror, for god's sake.

At any rate, I wouldn't attempt to breed a male like that; his behavior would probably throw the female off, since he clearly doesn't know how to give the right signals. He might be a good candidate for a community tank with other peaceful fish though. :good:
