Wet pets make the best Pets
Well as the title says, may be moving in the coming months... perfect timing... just when the snow starts to fall.. but anyways. I've seen plenty of threads on TFF about how to properly move a whole tank. Just wanted to outline what I'm planning and make sure that it sounds ok.
Well the most concern is for my salty tank, hence why I'm posting here. It's only a 30G with a couple small fish and I think only 20 or 25lb of LR, so it's not like I'm moving a 150G reef. But for the fish, I plan to buy those styrofoam coolers and place the fish in plastics bags, similar to the way lfs' wrap them up, and place th bags in the coolers with maybe a couple of the hand warmers to keep things at temp, hopefully around 76 to 80F.
For the lr, use another styro cooler with some damp paper towels placed over it. I have some mushrooms attached to the rock, how long will they be ok out of the water? I would assume not long.
For the rest of the water, just use the clean six gallon paint buckets I use to store RO H2O.
I will be swapping out the 30G for a 40G breeder I recently purchased, along with maybe 20 to 40 more lbs of lr. Also, I will be making a sump to almost double the water volume (will use the current 30G as the sump with some more lr and filter floss to screen out muck from the water.
Well I guess thats the major things, everything should be kosher with this move, just wanted any opinions if it's thought that I need to do something differently
