I was told that RO water would cost me .30 cents per gallon. So, it would cost only 30 dollars to buy this water for a 100 gallon tank. Is this a normal price, should I be afraid that I'm getting the wrong stuff?

I don't know...I bought a R/O system off of e-bay cuz i have a 120g tank. I managed to get it for less than $100 so it's basically already payed for itself...on a side note, i also refill my water jug with this so I have great drinking water all the time

Interesting idea. Who makes these machines? Over time it woudl definitely pay for itself. Maybe I will look around. Has anybody had any negative experiences "making" your own?

Here's a link to the same system (same guy as well) that I got. He has a store that sells the systems for a little more than than the initial bid so I only saved a few bucks.

Oh yeah, I don't know where you're from, this is in the US, if you're outside the US you might have to look around for something similar sorry :dunno:

I am in the USA. Did you buy any of the optional equipment? I just think it would be a pain to transfer 75 gallons of water in my car.

well, i bought the sink fitting so I didn't have to plumb it into my apartment. I just put the whole system in the closet when i'm not using it, and when I need to do water changes i have a 45g rubbermaid bin that i put the outflow to, then I wheel it over to my tank and start transfering the water. Not really hard that way

Edited to add...WooHoo, post # 400!

I think I will purchase one of these systems. I'm going to read up on them and make sure that I get a good one. :) After all, if you're going spend money... spend it wisely, right?

This will totally beat carrying all of the water up 2 flights of stairs!!!!!!!
