Just wondering i read in someones signature that they had Corys in a cold water tank with their cold water fish,i didnt know they could be kept together? Its not a critisisum (sorry bout the spelling) i was just wondering.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. So i researched it a bit, and what I found was that Cories actually prefer cooler temperatures. How cold is too cold? I have no idea! The information I found didn't specify! :D

Thanx 4 the reply Nina,so does any one know what temp the corys like?I really love corys if they would be suitable to mix with cold water fish i might consider getting a couple.I already have them in my other tanks. If this is a bad idea please let me know .

*wonders if it was her signature*

I have 8 cories in my coldwater tank. It is true that they prefer cooler water but some prefer cooler than others, that's why I chose peppereds. I read on planet catfish as well as a few other places that they like 59-77F/15-25C and sonce my coldwater tank is 72F and my tropical 77F it stands to reason that they would be better off in my coldwater.

Some other cories were sort of border lione as to what's the lowest the liked so I decided against getting any that were 73F and up.

They have been in there about a month and seem very happy and active, it's also nice to have such a big group.

I think that would be totally fine for them. Does your tank have gravel or sand? Mine is gravel but will be getting changed to sand soon. Someone had a good idea to put something that can contain sand in the tank, like a little dish to make a cory sand box!

Just make sure you do a light gravel clean during water changes and your tank would be fine with 3 or so IMO, and be careful of your parameters with having those fish in a 20gall as it is but I don't think the cories would make any difference to that.

I have gravel in that tank and i do keep up with the gravel cleaning cos cold water fish seem to poop such alot, and i do regular water changes twice a week to keep the water good.
Cheers miss cheese :#
