Hi all just wondering if your corys do the same....
Ive noticed lately they are becoming more confident and the other night I saw one race all the way to the top of the tank and come screaming back down at a million miles per hour....I think he was trying to eat the bubbles from the filter, anyway I watched this for a little while and noticed another one copy him. Gosh they are fast!!! AND so so so so cute :p

I've seen it also, all cory owners should.

Corys go to the surface, swallow a bubble of air, and it disolves into there system. It's part of how they get oxygen.

Don't ask where I read it. :/

Hi MissClaire :)

ddreams is right, they don't have labyrinths like bettas or gouramis, but they do sometimes take gulps of air.

It's very funny to watch a tankful of partly grown corys. Once one does this, it seems to set the others off. Once they get going it reminds me of a fireworks show with one shooting up after another.

haha inchworm yeah they are so quick! I didnt realise they could swim that fast for such a little fish! They just take off with rockets in their bums :p

What's fun though is when they think they have found something on the bottom and all the others come over to investigage. :p

And it's not just the corys. Get one cory in one spot for more than a minute and all the sudden all my guppys show up to see what is going on along with the danios.

I once saw my 3 cories forming in line neatly in a row next to one another, looks very interesting.

Yeah mine do it too...mostly only one of them though. Although sometimes all six will take it in turns to go up

I've also noticed that they swim really slowly till theyre about 3" fromt eh surface, like they're creeping, then make a sudden dash for it :/ any reason for this or are they just trying to amuse me?

Cluttery it sounds like you have a new variety there....Sneakus Corydoras. 8) They clearly don't want you to know what they're doing til the very last minute!

Mine arrow up from the bottom like rockets, no half measures. Very amusing posts everyone. Thanks for the grins. I do love cories!

Mine will sometimes go half up, stop like they are trying to decide what they are going to do, start to go back down, then suddenly rocket to the top.

I was watching them this morning though and realized they remind me of some dogs. :)

They always have there nose to the ground until one decides to play and then all of them are off on some tangent for a few minutes, then they are back to having their nose to the ground.
