Hi there,

Today I fed some floating pellets to my betta, and the corys came to the surface to try and eat the food. Usually, I feed them sinking pellets and so they don't come on the surface.

Is it normal for them to come up to the surface? Does it indicate that they are exceptionally hungry? Could I be underfeeding them? (The sinking pellets usually last for 2-3 minutes before they eat it all)

I have a variety of corys in various tanks, I have yet to see any of them come to the surface to eat. I have a couple of common plecs that will do that, but no corys yet.

Corys have a huge appetite for being a smaller fish, you could try feeding them more. Vary their diet a little too, bloodworms are a favorite.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I do feed them shrimp and veggies often. Any other suggestions?
