I have 2 albino corys which i thought were both female. One of them is laying eggs everywhere, would this happen if they were both female? If they are fertilized what is the best way to raise them? There are guppies in there with them who have eaten some of the eggs so i've taken some out and put hem in with my guppy fry.

This is the one thats not laying eggs, is it female too?

I have green aeneus corys that spawn once in a while, they are the same species as your albinos. I scrape the eggs off the side of the tank with a razor blade, and put them in a small tupperware bowl with an airstone. I add the same mix of anti-fungals to the bowl that I use for hatching angels, 7 drops per gallon methelyne blue, 3 drops per gallon Maroxy, and 4 drops per gallon acriflavin. Once they are swimming they go in a tank by themselves, and get fed bbs, just like angels.

Thanks, this is prob a stupid question but do you attach the airstone to a pump?

Yes you do, a little surface movement is all you need, tiny stream of bubbles.

I have put the eggs in a floating breeding trap near the filter outflow in my guppy fry tank, with one of the streams from the spray bar spraying into it. hopefully that will be o.k as don't have any spare air pumps. Did you look at my picture, do you think it is a male or female? If they are both female then nothing is going to come of the eggs anyway!

Would a female spawn without the presence of a male?
You couldn't call it "spawning" as that does require a pair, but roe-laden females will certainly deposit their eggs, as if they were spawning, without the presence of a male. They have to get rid of the eggs in some way, and contrary to the old wive's tale, they do not "reabsorb" them. - Frank

O.k thanks, I'll keep an eye on the eggs but I doubt anything will happen, the other one does look female to me too.

Hi KAJones, Did you have any success with the eggs? My Albino Cory deposits eggs all the time and was wondering if your method got them to hatch? Ta, Anna
