if i have 6 bolivian rams in a 55 gallon, growing out together, is it possible to have a school of cories? I was originally planning on doing placo's but would rather have another school. I'm just curious if having 12 or so fish all in the bottom would be an issue?

Depending on the length of the tank I would say that 6 Bolivian rams are too many. If you decided to do that then it would have to be 2 male and 4 female. As for the corydoras, they'd probably be fine although I've never kept rams, so maybe someone else can add?

Of course it's possible, but if you like corys, even a little, you don't want to keep them in a tank with rams or other cichlids. Corys are peaceful and unable to defend themselves. Even the stress caused by being in a tank with aggressive fish is enough to weaken their immune systems. Cichlids also tend to pick their eyes out.

i had a single gbr female and a pair of apistos with 6 corys and the corys disappeared one by one... i mean 'disappeared' too! considered they're supposed to be armoured all i was left with the skeletal structure in the morning cant say for certain it was the cichlids but the only other fish i had were: danios, neons and sae's....
